Kwanzaa | A Community Celebration

Celebrate Kwanzaa with us at the International African American Museum! Join us for an enriching community celebration that honors the rich cultural traditions of African heritage and its profound influence on African American identity.

This special program will feature a vibrant blend of food, conversation, and music, offering a dynamic experience that brings to life the seven principles of Kwanzaa: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative Economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), and Imani (Faith).

Guests will have the opportunity to engage in educational arts and craft workshops, designed to delve into the history, significance, and cultural practices of Kwanzaa. These workshops will provide a deeper understanding of how this celebration connects the African diaspora with its roots, fostering a strong sense of community, family, and self.

Join us on December 27 for a celebration that promises to inspire, educate, and unite. This program is a perfect way to connect with African traditions while celebrating the shared values that continue to strengthen and uplift our community.
