Jazz In The Garden | Feat. Charlton & Friends
It’s a block party in the Garden! Jazz in the Garden is back at the International African American Museum, bringing together live music, dance, and community vibes for a day of celebration. Hosted by Zandrina Dunning, this year’s program highlights the deep connections between jazz and Gullah traditions, blending history with high energy.
Kick things off with a Ring Shout workshop led by Grammy Award-winning musician Charlton Singleton, where rhythm and movement tell the story of the Lowcountry’s musical roots. Then, join movement artist Jordan Maria for a Creative Dance Workshop before Charlton & Friends take the stage for an electrifying live performance.
And what’s a block party without great food? We’re serving up Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog BBQ, a legend in Southern barbecue. Cooking over live embers, Rodney Scott’s team brings the rich, smoky flavors of whole hog barbecue—preserving a tradition that’s as much about history as it is about incredible taste.
Throughout the Garden, you’ll find games, and family-friendly activities to keep the energy going. Plus, explore the museum with ticketed access and dive deeper into the stories that shape our culture.
Whether you're a jazz lover or just here for the musical vibes, Jazz in the Garden is all about good music, good food, and good people. This program is made possible through the generous support of the Craven's Foundation.
